Robin o’the Greenwood

prankster, thief and earl

Was Robin Hood a real person? Is it true he stole from the rich to give to the poor, or was that a thin excuse for relieving travellers of their purses?

Storyteller Beth Webb and folk singer Neil Eaton will delight you with an evening of traditional tales, songs, and a little bit of history. In the magnificent setting of the Bishop’s Palace, you’ll be transported back to the early 1200s – to the day when an unwed great granddaughter of the King of the Scots gave birth to a baby boy, and she called him Robin.

This costumed performance is suitable to be held outside in the gardens if coronavirus legislation is still in force.

The evening will last about 2 hours (including a break)

We will have an overall theme of exploring who Robin Hood really was, interwoven with traditional tales and songs.

Beth Webb is a well-known local storyteller specialising in mediaeval tales and Neil Eaton is a popular folk singer with the perfect voice for these ballads.
